Boston 3 Alarm fire 5-4-11

At approximately 5:30am Wednesday morning, the Boston Fire Department responded to 95 Commercial Wharf, Sarrouf Law LLP, for a working building fire. Boston Fire Ladder 1 and Engine 8 was first to respond and Capt. Mullane, L-1, immediately ordered a second alarm for heavy fire showing from the rear of the building.
The building was built on pylons in Boton Harbor, requiring the Boston Fire Marine Unit fire boat to respond. Divers also entered the water to fight the fire from below. At one point, almost 75 firefighters were on scene working the fireground. Due to the location and construction of the building, fighting the fire was difficult at times for firefighters, who continued to fight pockets of fire well into the morning. Initial damage estimates came in around $3,000,000 and the building is a total loss. 5 Firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, however all injuries are non-life threatening.

Weymouth Level 2 Haz-Mat 5-3-11

At 5:53pm on Tuesday May 3rd, Weymouth Fire received a report of a burning smell at the AmeriSci labs, 8 School St. Employees told fire officials that they smelled a "smokey/burning smell" and noticed a vapor cloud. They immediately evacuated the building. Weymouth Fire Deputy Chief Richard Chase contacted the Department of Fire Services and requested a Level 2 Haz-Mat response. It was determined that an unknown acid was leaking from a glass jar into a cardboard box, and then onto the floor. According to @AlertNewEngland and @alexjonesphoto on Twitter, fire crews had to respond again later that night after the chemicals had a reaction causing a fire in the basement/first floor of the building, initiating a 2-alarm response.

Randolph 2 Alarm 3/26/11

On the morning of March 26, 2011, Randolph Fire responded to a house fire. All of the occupants were able to escape from the home without injury, however, water pressure problems from a hydrant limited firefighter's ability to fight the fire. At one point, the fire was reported to be knocked down, but as soon as holes were cut into the roof, the fire raged back to life. Flames came shooting out of the second floor windows as firefighters did all the could to put out the blaze. Eventually, the roof collapsed into the home.
